Accounting Manager

Our client is a Texas-based, community-driven company. As they continue to expand, they are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead a high-performing team overseeing a range of accounting operations. Based in Austin, TX, this leadership role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, driving process improvements, and fostering collaboration across multiple business units. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to enhancing accounting practices in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What YOU get to DO at this growing company:
- Lead and mentor the accounting team handling fixed asset and project accounting, as well as general ledger functions.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate reporting of capital and operational transactions.
- Analyze complex financial data and fluctuations, providing insights and supporting documentation for variances.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, and other regulatory standards, and internal policies.
- Partner cross-functionally on contracts, leases, asset acquisitions, and special projects.
- Collaborate with external auditors, preparing and reviewing audit documentation.
- Drive improvements to accounting systems, processes, and controls for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide coaching and development to the accounting team, setting clear goals aligned with organizational priorities..
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- CPA certification (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and/or GASB
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., PeopleSoft or similar)
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
