The Role:
Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team onsite in Round Rock, TX. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in project accounting, particularly within the construction or paving industries. The Accounting Manager will ensure accurate financial reporting, provide critical insights to project managers, and oversee Work-In-Progress (WIP) accounting and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management: Lead daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and reporting.
• Project Accounting: Accurately track project costs, revenues, and profitability.
• WIP Accounting: Apply WIP and percentage-of-completion methods for consistent revenue recognition.
• Accounting Process Ownership: Refine workflows to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with company goals.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with leadership to develop and manage financial plans.
• Internal Controls: Maintain robust systems to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial statements, variance analyses, and project updates.
• Audit Coordination: Lead preparation efforts for external audits.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and manage the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the construction or paving industries.
• Skills:
  • Expertise in project accounting, WIP, and percentage-of-completion methods.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ownership Mindset: Proven ability to independently manage and optimize accounting processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with construction accounting software and ERP systems.
• Familiarity with state and federal tax regulations related to construction.
• A history of implementing process improvements in accounting operations.
