Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Minnesota

Our client is an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) specializing in electronics manufacturing solutions for critical systems. They serve various industries, including aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial sectors. Their key services include surface mount technology (SMT), through-hole soldering, electro-mechanical assembly, and comprehensive testing to ensure product reliability.
This is an opportunity for you to join the team as Manufacturing Engineering Manager to manage all aspects of engineering to support high-quality production and ensure all products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
What YOU get to DO in this dynamic role:

Take ownership of key manufacturing processes including SMT, solder paste printing, reflow soldering, hand soldering, through-hole insertion, conformal coating, testing, and additional assembly operations.

Support daily manufacturing activities by resolving engineering, equipment, process, and component-related issues.

Evaluate and improve existing manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance overall process efficiencies.

Develop and coordinate process change implementation plans, including documentation and training in alignment with the company’s Quality Policy.

Lead and support engineering and production staff in generating machine programs, conducting training, and applying consistent programming techniques.

Create setup, operation, and maintenance instructions to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and support manufacturing with equipment setups and maintenance.

Perform time studies and participate in NPI, ECO, and print release activities, including product routing and process requirements.

Assist in prototype and first article assembly, and provide feedback on design for manufacturability.

Collaborate with the QA team on Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), corrective actions, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Fulfill Radiation Safety Officer responsibilities.

Oversee personnel actions such as hiring, performance reviews, motivation, and terminations.
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a combination of college and 6–10 years of related manufacturing/process engineering experience.

Strong experience with SMT first articles and SMT programming.

Proven experience in SMT and through-hole circuit board assembly processes.

Proficiency with CAD data and CircuitCAM software.

Demonstrated success in a manufacturing environment.

Leadership ability to guide and train engineers, technicians, programmers, and assemblers.
