Our client is a leading provider of high-quality student housing communities and they are looking for a Senior Manager – Accounting & Financial Reporting to oversee the daily management of financial reporting, transactions, and reconciliations. This role involves supporting financial analysis, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and managing audits and journal entries. The Senior Manager will lead and mentor accounting staff while implementing best practices in financial reporting. This is a critical role requiring deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and strong leadership capabilities.

What YOU get to DO at this growing company:

  • Oversee accounting for derivative instruments, debt, and ground lease accounting, ensuring accuracy in journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Calculate joint venture partner distributions, manage payments, and record journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and recording of actual and budgeted amounts for noncontrolling interests.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, disclosure schedules, and financial reporting packages.
  • Prepare consolidated tax basis financial statements and supporting documentation.
  • Lead the preparation and review of accounting workbooks for real estate transactions, acquisitions, joint ventures, and recapitalizations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline financial reporting and accounting processes.
  • Manage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and company policies.

What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial reporting, public accounting, and related fields.
  • 2+ years of professional management experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and public company financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Expertise in accounting software and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.
