Senior Plant Manager

A leading manufacturer in the animal nutrition industry is seeking a Senior Plant Manager to drive operational excellence and lead a turnaround initiative at one of its key production facilities. This role also provides oversight for a second facility operating in a more stable capacity. The ideal candidate will be a charismatic, hands-on leader with a proven track record in turnaround management, team leadership, and packaging automation.

About the Role

This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for all aspects of plant operations, including safety, quality, productivity, and cost management. The primary facility is undergoing a major transformation, requiring a leader who excels in change management, accountability, and operational efficiency. The secondary facility requires minimal but consistent leadership engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership:
    • Provide oversight for both manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with business goals.
    • Serve as a visible, engaging leader to drive accountability and foster a culture of performance.
    • Develop and mentor plant leadership teams to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Turnaround & Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead process improvement initiatives, leveraging lean methodologies and problem-solving frameworks (DMAIC).
    • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and operational inefficiencies.
    • Implement best practices to optimize safety, quality, and production output.
  • Financial & Business Strategy:
    • Oversee plant budgets, capital expenditures, and cost controls to maintain financial health.
    • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to drive strategic growth initiatives.
    • Ensure production aligns with demand—every unit produced is immediately sold, presenting a unique growth opportunity.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance:
    • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
    • Support product quality improvements by ensuring all EQMS requirements are met.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Required:
    • 4+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
    • Proven success in turnaround management and leading cultural change.
    • Strong ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
    • Strategic mindset with a hands-on leadership approach.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in animal nutrition or pet food production (e.g., Cargill, ADM, or similar).
    • Background in packaging automation and manufacturing efficiencies.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
