Our client is a fast-growing, highly successful start-up, based in Austin, Texas.  They are a leader in the field of medical technology and healthcare services, focusing on innovative solutions for chronic pain and musculoskeletal disorders with a physician-driven and patient-centric approach.

Position Summary: The Vice President of Operations will play a critical role in leading and overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations. The VP of Operations will be instrumental in implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to ensure that the company’s operational strategies align with its overall business objectives. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in the medical device industry and a proven track record of driving operational and sales excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Develop and implement operational strategies in alignment with the company’s goals and EOS principles.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
    • Collaborate with the executive team to define and execute the company’s strategic vision and objectives.
  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee the entire manufacturing process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
    • Manage supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and quality standards specific to the medical device industry.
    • Implement and optimize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Sales Management:
    • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve company revenue goals.
    • Oversee the sales team, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management.
    • Collaborate with marketing to ensure alignment of sales and marketing strategies.
    • Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • EOS Implementation:
    • Champion the implementation of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) throughout the operations and sales departments.
    • Facilitate the development and execution of quarterly and annual rocks (goals) as part of the EOS framework.
    • Lead the team in regular EOS meetings, ensuring adherence to the EOS process and tools.
  • Quality and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
    • Oversee quality assurance and control processes, including audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the operations and sales budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and drive improvements.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management
  • Proven experience with the utilization of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certifications are highly desirable.
